HOW IT WORKS

From your business costs to a smarter quote.

Set up the economics of your business once, build each job from its expected costs, review the pricing benchmark, then compare the estimate with what actually happened after the work is complete.

01

Set up your business economics

Enter your business targets, productive-capacity assumptions, loaded labor costs and fixed overhead. Review Model Checks before relying on the estimator.

02

Build the job

Enter expected labor hours and direct job costs in Job Estimator to see the economics of the work before you quote it.

03

Review the pricing benchmark

Compare your intended price with Recommended Sell Price and see which pricing constraint is driving the recommendation.

04

Compare the finished job

Enter actual revenue, labor hours and costs after completion, then build your job history and use the Dashboard to see where performance is improving—or missing the estimate.

BUILT FOR BETTER PRICING DECISIONS

Answer the questions behind a profitable job.

MarginForge connects labor, direct costs, overhead and margin targets so you can evaluate the economics of a job before you quote it—and learn from the result after the work is complete.

What does this job actually cost us?

See labor, direct job costs, contingency and allocated overhead together instead of relying on materials and wage rate alone.

What does the job need to sell for?

Compare the price required to protect direct gross margin with the price required to support the modeled economics of the business.

Is the price I’m considering economically sound?

Compare your proposed price with True Break-Even, Gross-Margin Price, Sustainable Price and Recommended Sell Price before the quote goes out.

Where did the completed job miss the estimate?

Compare estimated and actual labor, costs, revenue and margin so completed jobs can improve future assumptions.

WHO IT’S FOR

Built for operators who want to understand the numbers behind the quote.

Home Service Pricing & Job Profitability Pro is designed for contractors and home-service businesses that want a more disciplined way to connect job costs, overhead and margin targets before pricing the work.

A STRONG FIT IF YOU…

✓ Price project-based or service work

You regularly build quotes or estimates where labor, materials, subcontractors and other job costs affect profitability.

✓ Want to understand true labor cost

You want wages, payroll burden, employee costs and productive capacity reflected in the economics of the job.

✓ Need a repeatable pricing benchmark

You want something more structured than markup, gut feel or copying what a competitor charges.

✓ Want to learn from completed jobs

You want to compare estimates with actual labor, costs, revenue and margins so future assumptions can improve.

✓ Are comfortable maintaining your business inputs

You’re comfortable entering and periodically updating your own assumptions in Microsoft Excel.

PROBABLY NOT THE RIGHT FIT IF YOU...

— Need accounting, bookkeeping or payroll software

MarginForge is a pricing and decision-support tool, not a replacement for your accounting system.

— Want software to automatically determine the market price

The workbook calculates pricing benchmarks from your economics; it cannot tell you what every customer or market will accept.

— Expect a guaranteed profit or “perfect” selling price

Outputs depend on the assumptions and information you provide, and business judgment still matters.

— Need a browser-based or Google Sheets-first system

The product is designed for Microsoft Excel (.xlsx); Google Sheets compatibility is not guaranteed.

— Need custom business, tax, legal or accounting advice

Product support covers use of the workbook, not professional consulting or individualized business advice.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Know what you’re buying before you buy it.

Straight answers about the workbook, compatibility, licensing and support.

What does Home Service Pricing & Job Profitability Pro calculate?

The workbook helps you model loaded labor cost, direct job costs, contingency, allocated overhead, True Break-Even, Gross-Margin Price, Sustainable Price and Recommended Sell Price. It also includes estimate-vs.-actual analysis, completed-job history, dashboard reporting and setup diagnostics.

How is Recommended Sell Price calculated?

MarginForge calculates both a Gross-Margin Price and a Sustainable Price. Recommended Sell Price uses the higher of the two so you can see which economic constraint is driving the pricing benchmark.

Does MarginForge tell me exactly what I should charge a customer?

No. MarginForge gives you a pricing benchmark based on your own costs, overhead assumptions and margin targets. It does not determine what a particular customer or market will accept, and business judgment still matters.

Do I need Microsoft Excel?

Yes. The product is provided as a Microsoft Excel .xlsx workbook and is designed for use in Excel. Google Sheets may alter formatting, validation, charts or formula behavior, so compatibility is not guaranteed.

Is MarginForge accounting or bookkeeping software?

No. It is a business planning, estimating and decision-support tool. It does not replace accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, tax or professional financial systems or advice.

Can my employees use the workbook?

Yes. The Standard One-Business License allows internal use by authorized employees or contractors of the licensed legal business entity.

Can I use one purchase for multiple businesses or client companies?

No. The standard license covers one legal business entity. It does not permit use across unrelated businesses or multiple consulting clients.

How much product support is included?

Your purchase includes 30 calendar days of product support from the original purchase date. Support covers file access, documented workbook features, intended input locations and suspected defects in the unmodified workbook.

Is this a subscription?

No. Home Service Pricing & Job Profitability Pro is a $49 one-time digital purchase. There is no recurring subscription fee.

What is the refund policy for a digital product?

Because the product is delivered digitally, purchases are generally final once access or download is provided. Limited exceptions may apply for issues such as a verified duplicate purchase, a materially corrupted file that cannot be corrected, or a material mismatch between the product and its description.
