What file format are MarginForge products?

Current MarginForge workbook products are provided as Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) files.

Do MarginForge workbooks work in Google Sheets?

Google Sheets compatibility is not guaranteed. MarginForge workbook products are designed and tested for Microsoft Excel, and opening or converting them in other spreadsheet applications may affect formatting, validation, charts, formulas, or other functionality.

What the Tool Does - and Doesn't Do

Does MarginForge guarantee that I will make a profit?

No. MarginForge products are decision-support tools. Results depend on user inputs, assumptions and real-world conditions. The buyer is responsible for independently verifying all outputs before relying on them.

Is MarginForge accounting or tax software?

No. MarginForge is a business planning, estimating and decision-support tool. It is not accounting, tax, payroll, legal, engineering, regulatory or financial advice.

Does the workbook tell me what I must charge?

No. It provides a calculated pricing benchmark based on the inputs and targets you enter. The final price remains a business decision and should be independently reviewed.

What types of businesses can use the workbook?

It is designed primarily for contractors and home-service businesses that quote individual jobs, including businesses such as painting, pressure washing, cleaning, landscaping, pool service, HVAC, plumbing and similar field-service work. Suitability depends on the business's cost structure and workflow

Do I need accounting knowledge to use it?

MarginForge products are designed to explain their key inputs and include product documentation to help users understand the intended workflow. Users are still responsible for understanding and verifying their own labor, overhead, tax, cost, margin, and pricing assumptions.

License & Sharing

Can multiple employees use one license?

Yes, when the users are authorized employees or contractors working for the same licensed legal business entity and use the product only for that entity's internal operations.

Can I give the workbook to another business?

No. The Standard One-Business License does not permit sharing, redistribution, resale, sublicensing or giving the source workbook to an unrelated business.

Can a consultant use one purchase for multiple clients?

Not under the Standard One-Business License. Multi-business, consultant, franchise or enterprise use requires an expanded license from MarginForge.

Can I modify the workbook?

The purchaser can generally enter permitted business data and use the workbook internally as described in the license. Unauthorized redistribution, white-labeling, resale or derivative-template resale is prohibited.

Support & Refunds

How long is support included?

Thirty calendar days of complimentary product support are included from the original purchase date, subject to the Support Policy.

What does support include?

Included support covers file access, opening the unmodified workbook, questions about documented product features, identifying where documented inputs belong and reporting suspected defects in the unmodified product.

What does support not include?

Support does not include business consulting, pricing recommendations, review of customer quotes or bids, accounting or tax advice, Excel training, customization, Google Sheets conversion or troubleshooting user-modified formulas.

What is the refund policy?

Digital-product sales are generally final after access or download, subject to applicable law and the published Refund Policy. Specific exceptions and reporting windows are described in that policy.

Where can I get help?

Email support@marginforgetools.com. The applicable support period and scope are described in the MarginForge Support Policy.

Home Service Pricing & Job Profitability Pro

Does the workbook include overhead in gross margin?

No. MarginForge separates direct gross margin from contribution after modeled overhead. Direct gross margin uses direct job costs; contribution also considers allocated overhead.

What is the Recommended Sell Price?

It is the higher of the calculated Gross-Margin Price and Sustainable Price, so the recommendation does not satisfy one pricing constraint by automatically sacrificing the other.

What is true break-even cost?

In the MarginForge pricing model, true break-even is adjusted direct job cost plus the modeled overhead allocated to that job.

What is the difference between Gross-Margin Price and Sustainable Price?

Gross-Margin Price is based on adjusted direct cost and the target direct gross margin. Sustainable Price starts with true break-even cost and calculates the price required for the target job contribution margin.
